Milwaukee Bucks: 3 things to watch for vs. Dallas Mavericks in Orlando – Bombs away

The Bucks’ 3-point defense has been a major topic throughout their run in Orlando, with plenty of it coming as a concern.

It’s been for good reason as the Bucks’ last three opponents have each hit 21 triples on a bevy of attempts to take advantage of the Bucks’ base defensive scheme. And the Mavericks certainly have the potential to add to this streak of sorts, given their propensity to launch threes at will on a nightly basis.

After all, it was the Mavericks who first perfected this formula as it was during their 120-116 win over the Bucks back on December 16 when they went 16-for-41 from 3-point range in a game where they were without their leading scorer and offensive force in Doncic.

Through this point in the season, no team has made more 3-pointers (1,079) than the Mavericks. Break that down even further and Dallas generates and makes the most catch-and-shoot triples of any team and hits such shots at a 38.1 percent clip, a mark that ranks ninth in the league.

If that wasn’t enough, the Mavericks arguably are best equipped to really stretch the Bucks’ defense more than most 3-point happy teams as they attempt and make the most amount of threes from above the break. Of course, those spots on the floor are exactly where the Bucks allow the majority of the threes to their opponents.

Given all of that, if Bucks fans are seeking a respite from the discussion surrounding their 3-point defense, the Mavericks will look to keep that conversation going, even as their 3-point firepower hasn’t yet been consistent through their first four games in Orlando.
