Player grades from Milwaukee Bucks’ 119-106 loss to Memphis Grizzlies – Bench

Milwaukee Bucks. FRANK MASON III. A-. The Bucks and Budenholzer resting or limiting the minutes for many, if not all of their key players led to two-way player Frank Mason III seeing the most minutes off the bench. And in nearly 26 minutes, Mason pretty much showed the same things that he’s shown over his time in the bubble with the Bucks as he finished with 18 points on 7-for-13 shooting (3-for-6 from three), eight assists and a turnover. While it was great to see the same shotmaking that Mason had shown all year long in the G League, his continued playmaking and ball security was certainly a boon, even in a game that didn’t have meaning for the Bucks. Even so, those minutes meant something to Mason to showcase his skills and it’s far from guaranteed that he’ll see much, if any, from here on out, now that the playoffs will begin in a few days for the Bucks. That shouldn’t be a reflection on his play in the slightest, though.. Guard

It was far from a fitting cap on Robin Lopez’s regular season. The veteran center finished with just five points on 2-for-9 shooting from the field and missed on four of his attempts from deep on the day over his 21 minutes, though he did pull down four rebounds. And he was certainly frustrated trying to organize the Bucks’ defense with all of their reserves on the floor. We’ll just have to see what his role in the rotation looks like over the course of the playoffs.. Center. Milwaukee Bucks. ROBIN LOPEZ. D

D+. Just like the Bucks overall, Kyle Korver’s run a little hot and cold over the seeding games and Thursday was a colder night for the veteran sharpshooter. Korver knocked in just one three and put down a free throw that accounted for all four of his points on the day over his 20-and-a-half minutes on the floor. Of course, many of those were shared with the Bucks’ many reserves so Korver’s marksmanship was certainly accounted for over those minutes.. Wing. Milwaukee Bucks. KYLE KORVER

Wing. Milwaukee Bucks. STERLING BROWN. D. Following his 23-point outburst last time out, Sterling Brown didn’t come close to crafting a similar effort Thursday. The SMU product finished with five points on six shots and was 1-for-3 from deep and chipped in five rebounds, a pair of assists, a turnover and steal each over 19-and-a-half minutes. What his role looks like in the playoffs is anyone’s guess, but his play over the seeding games largely didn’t inspire confidence, outside of his scoring outburst earlier in the week.

Milwaukee Bucks. DONTE DIVINCENZO. A-. Donte DiVincenzo easily turned in his most encouraging performance in the bubble, though that certainly wasn’t a high bar to clear. The 23-year-old was all kinds of aggressive, whether it was attacking the cup and hunting shots from long range, and he finished with 17 points on 13 shots and went 3-for-5 from three. The key theme to DiVincenzo’s scoring success was having another ball handler on the floor, whether it was the likes of Eric Bledsoe or Frank Mason III. To that point, DiVincenzo added in four assists, but accrued five turnovers, officially giving himself as many assists (18) as turnovers over the seeding games. But if this is the game that helped DiVincenzo break out of his bubble funk, the Bucks will certainly benefit.. Guard

D. As much as he gave energy and effort over his 17-and-a-half minutes, Thanasis Antetokounmpo’s outing Thursday was lacking a poster or a moment that he’s been able to commemorate his limited minutes on the floor throughout the year. The elder Antetokounmpo finished with a pair of points on four shots (0-for-2 from three) and had a pair of assists, a board, steal and turnover on the day.. Forward. Milwaukee Bucks. THANASIS ANTETOKOUNMPO

MARVIN WILLIAMS. C+. Before tweaking his ankle midway through the second quarter, it certainly seemed as though Marvin Williams was going to see plenty of time, just like all of the Bucks’ reserves. But even as his night was prematurely cut short as he didn’t see any time over the second half, Williams finished with 5 points on two shots (1-for-1 from three) and three rebounds while playing the same active defense around the paint that will make him a useful contributor in the playoffs. And according to Budenholzer’s postgame comments, it seems as though Williams’ tweak won’t be of any concern going into the first round.. Forward. Milwaukee Bucks

C+. Well, the Bucks got through their eight seeding games unscathed as far as injuries go and that will certainly please Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer. What won’t please the reigning NBA Coach of the Year is the way in which his team largely performed over the last two weeks. That is when they have been at full strength, which was far from the case for many of the Bucks’ final eight games of the resurrected regular season. Now Bud and the Bucks will have to prepare for an Orlando Magic team that has been very uninspiring through their run in the bubble so far. But Steve Clifford’s teams certainly play better than the sum of their parts and the Bucks will have to be prepared for that going into Tuesday afternoon.. Head Coach. Milwaukee Bucks. MIKE BUDENHOLZER
