Takeaways from Milwaukee Bucks’ 119-106 loss to Memphis Grizzlies: .497/.415/.916

Khris Middleton’s pursuit of 50-40-90 was close to the only point of Bucks interest in their regular season finale, and sadly it didn’t finish with a positive outcome.

A 2-of-2 start from the field would have been enough to see Middleton clear the required mark, and would perhaps have led to Coach Mike Budenholzer subbing him out of the game early and allowing his two-time All-Star to take his place in the history books.

Instead, Middleton’s start was far from efficient. An opening two misses were followed by additional struggles, with it taking quite a bit of time for Middleton to find a groove that at least resembled something close to his usual form.

There were moments where it was apparent that the percentages may have been playing on Middleton’s mind, both in terms of the shots he was taking, and the shots he was passing up.

Needing to finish Thursday’s game with two more makes than misses, Middleton ultimately missed out as he finished 5-of-13 from the field.

It’s undoubtedly a disappointing note as he came so close, but Middleton’s play style means he may well have further opportunities in the future. More importantly, he’ll also likely get to remember this season with a spot on an All-NBA team.
