Milwaukee Bucks: Player grades from 122-110 Game 1 loss to Orlando Magic

B+. George Hill hasn’t had the smoothest of runs so far in Orlando, but he came up with the kind of performance the Bucks will need consistently from him as they got the playoffs started. Hill scored an efficient 16 points, while also dishing out five assists to just a single turnover. The Bucks need more from their bench, but Hill certainly wasn’t to blame on this occasion.. Guard. Not Pat Connaughton’s finest hour by any means. Connaughton made one triple but missed his other four attempts. Otherwise, he had a costly slip late on, struggled defending throughout, and canceled out what should have been a crucial four-point play to start the fourth quarter from Korver by immediately fouling on a three-point shot down the other end. With others struggling, Pat will need to step up.. Wing. Milwaukee Bucks. PAT CONNAUGHTON. D

Guard. Milwaukee Bucks. DONTE DIVINCENZO. D-. Donte DiVincenzo doesn’t look like a player who can make layups consistently at the moment, let alone anything else. As an individual, DiVincenzo has been the most concerning performer since the restart, and that carried over here. His offensive play looked dismal as he went 1-of-6 from the field, and his elite defense from prior to the season suspension has gone AWOL. To say DiVincenzo looked like a playoff rookie would be generous.

Forward. Milwaukee Bucks. MARVIN WILLIAMS. C. Marvin Williams was solid but by no means spectacular in his 16 minutes of play. Williams is game for whatever spot the Bucks put him in, including frequently guarding Vucevic at the 5, and when he goes up the other ends he does all he can to stick to his role. That saw him knock down a couple of triples, while he also chipped in a nice assist from the perimeter.

Just two minutes for Robin Lopez, in which he grabbed a rebound and made his sole field goal attempt. Given how Vucevic was thriving, he perhaps should have been given more extended run with Brook struggling.. Center. Milwaukee Bucks. ROBIN LOPEZ. INC.

C+. Kyle Korver looked like one of the better Bucks until he got cracked with Wesley Iwundu’s elbow and forced out of the game late on. The Bucks could have done with Korver’s shooting to give them a chance late on, as his four-point play showed the kind of spark he can provide.. Wing. Milwaukee Bucks. KYLE KORVER

D. Mike Budenholzer and his staff have a lot of work to do. The players don’t look motivated or at least in the kind of head space you’d expect at this point. The offense came to a grinding halt when confronted with a walled off paint, and the defense is simply not being executed in any kind of crisp fashion. Even if this just proves to be a bump in the road in the first round, it’s also a first look at the kind of problems that the Bucks will face in later rounds.
