Milwaukee Bucks: 3 things to watch for in Game 5 against Miami Heat – Heat adjustments

Considering how the Heat have executed better and had a considerable coaching advantage to this point in the series, it only seems reasonable to expect notable improvements from Miami headed into Game 5.

If complacency had crept in following Giannis’ injury, as many Heat players claimed, the final outcome of Game 4 should have acted as a wake-up call.

Having said that, there are reasons to believe that the Heat may not have quite as easy a task defending the Bucks without Antetokounmpo, as counter-intuitive as that seems.

Miami’s roster is almost uniquely well-equipped to defend Giannis, simply because they have such great depth in terms of long, athletic, and versatile defenders who are capable of walling off the paint, switching, and doubling him.

When the Bucks aren’t quite as reliant on getting to the rim to do damage, the dynamic changes significantly, though, and it does ask Miami to do something that they may not be quite as accomplished at.

That’s not to say the Heat’s defense will be unable to find a counter and an adjustment that leads to an improved performance, but particularly if Giannis is out, it will be interesting to see just how Miami click into gear with a different kind of Bucks’ challenge.
