Ranking the Milwaukee Bucks’ top 5 trade chips this offseason – 24th overall pick in 2020 NBA Draft

Once the seeding games down in the bubble finished out down in the bubble, the Bucks took on one of the biggest hits in terms of their draft positioning.

The Bucks’ first round pick in this year’s draft, which came courtesy of the Indiana Pacers via the Malcolm Brogdon sign-and-trade deal from the last summer, fell all the way down to the 24th overall pick, given the Pacers’ success to finish out their respective season (otherwise known as the T.J. Warren explosion).

Even in a

draft

year where nothing is certain, having a late first round pick like the Bucks have remains an attractive asset. The Bucks’ war chest of draft picks has been significantly diminished in recent years for a variety of reasons and limits the opportunities to build out their internal development in a traditional sense.

If dangled out in trade discussions, there will be opposing teams who may look to get into the first round of the draft. If the Bucks are looking to catch a bigger fish on the trade front, that gives an opposing team at minimum, a cost-controlled asset and a shot at developing a piece for the future, depending on who that might be.

Bucks fans have certainly gotten used to seeing them deal away pick after pick and it’s safe to say they shouldn’t let their guard down on that front this offseason.
