Milwaukee Bucks: 5 free agents to target with veteran minimum – Courtney Lee
It has been a rough going for Courtney Lee in the past two seasons battling with injury, but his 3-point shooting and defense could be serviceable for the Milwaukee Bucks.
After appearing in just 10 of the Mavericks’ first 50 games this season, Lee saw a more prominent role in the rotation after starter Jalen Brunson went down with a shoulder injury. The guard appeared in 14 of the next 17 contests before the NBA season halted in March, which was the last action he saw this year after suffering a calf injury that kept him out of the restart.
All in all, Lee made 24 appearances this season, nine of them being starts, where he averaged 4.5 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game. Although the guard put up shooting splits of .488/.477/.857, his production was minimal, which will make him a feasible target on the veteran minimum in free agency.
For the Bucks, who have some uncertainty surrounding the shooting guard position this offseason, a veteran like Lee might be worth taking a flyer on. A career 38.8 percent 3-point shooter in his 12 NBA seasons, Lee would fit right in with Milwaukee’s “let it fly” style of play from behind the arc. He is also a credible defender, able to provide a strong presence on the wing that would be a solid addition to the Bucks.
Lee will almost certainly be available for next to nothing on the free agent market, and if the Bucks want to bolster their wing depth, he will likely be an option.
