Milwaukee Bucks: 5 free agents to target with veteran minimum – Patrick Patterson
Spending this season with the LA Clippers, Patrick Patterson saw little time as he fell victim to the team’s overloaded frontcourt depth. The Milwaukee Bucks are on the opposite side of the spectrum and could use him to strengthen the position.
With Marvin Williams retiring at the end of the season and Ersan Ilyasova’s future in Milwaukee uncertain, the Bucks might need to find someone to play behind Giannis Antetokounmpo. Although Patterson might not be atop most people’s list, his veteran presence and skill set could be useful for a team with title aspirations.
Appearing in 59 games with LA this season, the forward averaged 4.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.7 assists in a career-low 13.2 minutes per game. However, when he did play, Patterson served his role as a stretch-four well, as he shot a career-best 39.0 percent from deep on 2.9 attempts per contest.
Along with his 3-point capabilities, Patterson is also a notable defender. His 6’8″ stature makes him a versatile big man that can guard multiple positions. For a Milwaukee team that needs a backup forward that can stretch the floor and defend, Patterson fits the bill.
The 31-year-old will likely be looking for a fresh start in free agency, and if contending is something on his mind, the Milwaukee Bucks have a case and the need for his services.
