Milwaukee Bucks: 5 free agents to target with veteran minimum – Jeff Green

Lastly, the Milwaukee Bucks should pursue Jeff Green to add some versatility to their frontcourt depth. The 12-year veteran proved that he could still play at a high level this season, and he checks several boxes for the Bucks.

Green started the season off with the Utah Jazz, but got cut after 30 games with the team. He then latched on with the Houston Rockets and flourished within their midseason transformation of exclusively playing small ball.

In 18 games with the Rockets, Green averaged 12.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game on .564/.354/.857 shooting splits. The veteran forward saw an increased role in the postseason, where he averaged 11.6 points on 49.5 percent shooting from the field and a prolific 42.6 percent from deep in 12 games off the bench.

The 34-year-old served as a viable backup big man for the Rockets and could undoubtedly do the same with the Bucks. As mentioned above, Milwaukee might need to explore the market for a frontcourt addition to contribute behind Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Green fits the archetype.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania ($$) recently reported that Green is expected to receive interest from a slew of contending teams this offseason and it’s not hard to connect the dots of whether the Bucks should be among those teams. Green’s 6’8″ build makes him a versatile fit positionally, and his capable 3-point shooting adds to his ability to theoretically slot into the Bucks’ established frontcourt.

Adding Green would bring in another savvy veteran that not only fills Milwaukee’s backup forward vacancy, but can contribute substantially to a contending Bucks organization.
