Milwaukee Bucks Mock Draft Roundup: Who does The RInger have the Bucks taking?

With the 24th overall pick, The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor has the Bucks selecting San Diego State senior guard Malachi Flynn.

While O’Connor doesn’t go into full details as to why Flynn would be a natural fit for the Bucks, he does include that Flynn is rising in the eyes of NBA front offices due to the well-rounded and polished nature of his game:

"“Flynn’s stock is on the rise; teams see a player who can contribute right away as a playmaking guard who hits spot-up 3s and plays tough defense.”"

But it’s clearly easy to see why Flynn would fit within the framework of what the Bucks have already built and how he checks the biggest needs the Bucks have to address this offseason.

The polished playmaking, shooting and overall scoring ability that Flynn possesses made him a star on the college level as he led San Diego State to a 30-2 season before the coronavirus pandemic shut down the 2019-20 college season. In his 32 appearances with the Aztecs, Flynn averaged 17.6 points on .441/.372/.857 shooting splits, 5.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 33.4 minutes per game.

While he’s on the older side at 22 years old, Flynn clearly provides a skill set that has made him a deep find for a team that has a pick late in the first round and is looking for immediate contributors. The fact that he brings a level of defensive toughness that makes up for his size concerns only cements his projection of being a diamond in the rough in this draft class, given the fact that he’s the reigning Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year.

We have not yet previously profiled Flynn’s game and his potential with the Bucks, but we will have you covered on that front very soon.
