Milwaukee Bucks: To buy or sell on Robin Lopez in free agency – What to buy

Starting in 70 percent of his career 832 games, having Robin Lopez as a backup big man was undoubtedly a solid addition. The 12-year veteran brought some battle-tested experience to the Milwaukee Bucks and contributed solid minutes, whether it was off the bench or occasionally in the starting lineup.

Having a starting-caliber center come off the bench is not a luxury many teams possess, and that presence proved to be a solid addition. Defensively, Robin provided a solid job protecting the rim and bolstering Milwaukee’s paint defense, standing at a substantial 7’0″, 281 pounds.

One of the biggest surprises surrounding Lopez this season was his newly equipped 3-point shooting. Known as an interior force for most of his career, Robin tried extending his range in the previous two seasons but was still only attempting just 0.3 shots from deep per game. However, in Milwaukee, the big man fully embraced the team’s “let it fly” mantra as he received the green light from downtown.

Although he was not the most prolific shooter, Lopez upped his attempts to 1.6 per game, connecting on 33.3 percent of those. These newfound floor spacing capabilities were a welcoming addition for the Bucks and something that would be hard to replace if the big man moved elsewhere.
