Milwaukee Bucks 2020 NBA Draft: Examining Malachi Flynn’s potential fit with the Bucks
Again, chances are high that the Bucks point guard position will be reconstructed over the offseason. That reconstruction could cause the team to sacrifice some depth at the position, so drafting a viable ball handler is key for them in the upcoming draft.
From a pure skills standpoint, Flynn is everything that Bucks fans have grown accustomed to in their point guards. He dominates in the pick-and-roll, he has a great shooting stroke and he is a fine on-ball defender, despite his size. He also would be willing to contribute to the team at the second he puts on a Bucks cap on draft night.
Another underlying factor for his fit with the Bucks organization revolves around what draft analysts have continuously relayed throughout this process. Flynn is a winner, and he has a unique amount of swagger and confidence that any team would be lucky to have in their locker room. He seems to be a gym rat, and he seems to be interested in one thing only: team success.
The elevator pitch for Milwaukee drafting Flynn is rather simple. He fits the team’s on-court mantra, he fits the team’s off-court mantra and biggest of all, he fits the team’s win-now timeline. In many ways, there are not many boxes that Flynn doesn’t hit for what the Bucks have valued from the draft.
For all those reasons and provided that the Bucks keep their pick at 24th overall, they certainly won’t regret potentially taking Flynn come November 18.
