Milwaukee Bucks Rumors: Where things stand with popular trade candidates
Milwaukee Bucks Rumors: Where things stand with popular trade candidates – Bogdan Bogdanovic
Starting us all off, let’s look into the case of Sacramento Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania ($$) was the first to report on the Bucks’ interest in the 28-year-old last month by relaying they’re expected to be a strong suitor for him as he hits restricted free agency.
Per Lowe, the Bucks’ interest in Bogdanovic is very much real. But he also noted the sign-and-trade route that’s required in chasing the Serbian international, their interest in taking on Harrison Barnes and his salary as well as the unknown of whether both sides have had any discussions to this point:
"“In any case, the Bucks will be active. They love Bogdan Bogdanovic, a restricted free agent with the Sacramento Kings who would require a sign-and-trade; the Bucks have kicked around scenarios in which they also absorb Harrison Barnes, sources have told ESPN. It is unclear if they have engaged the Kings in real discussions; it’s early. (Acquiring any player in a sign-and-trade would trigger the hard cap.)”"
That’s quite a meaty passage there that goes in many directions, but it all reaffirms the interest the Bucks have in Bogdanovic.
Again, the path to acquiring Bogdanovic is strictly limited to a sign-and-trade route and there are many ramifications that come with that as I broke down here. On top of that, it’s not known how the Kings’ front office values Bogdanovic moving forward amid their own questions regarding their roster.
Milwaukee surely isn’t short on interest when it comes to adding Bogdanovic and have entertained multiple scenarios, including taking on Barnes’ salary, to get a deal done. But a lot of hurdles still stand in the way at this stage.
