Giannis Antetokounmpo: 3 free agents that pair well with the MVP – Bogdan Bogdanovic

A restricted free agent that already has links to the Milwaukee Bucks, Sacramento Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic is an ideal pairing next to Giannis Antetokounmpo. With the team in the hunt for shooting and playmaking this offseason, the Bogdanovic interest is surely compelling.

The Serbian guard averaged 15.1 points on .440/.372/.741 shooting splits, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game this season. Launching a career-high 7.2 attempts from 3-point territory per game, Bogdanovic’s 37.2 percent from deep on the season was an impressive feat. On top of that, his playmaking capabilities at 3.4 assists per game despite not being a primarily ball-handler are undoubtedly eye-catching.

While Bogdanovic would be a stellar pairing next to Giannis, bringing in the 27-year-old is far easier said than done. He will be a restricted free agent, meaning that the Sacramento Kings can match any offer extended towards Bogdanovic, and matching Milwaukee’s $9.6 million mid-level exception would go without question.

That predicament makes the only possible avenue for adding Bogdanovic a sign-and-trade, which only further complicates things, given Milwaukee’s limited asset haul. ESPN’s Zach Lowe reported on Wednesday that the Bucks “love” Bogdanovic, and could be willing to also absorb Harrison Barnes and his $60.7 million owed over the next three seasons to get him.

The team’s interest in his is entirely justifiable, and time will tell if they can pull some strings to get the sharpshooter in Milwaukee next season.
