Milwaukee Bucks: 3 reasons to reconsider a Chris Paul trade – Paul is a surefire upgrade at the point guard position

The entirety of the speculation surrounding Paul and the Bucks is a result of the fact that the team seems destined to split with Eric Bledsoe this offseason.

Bledsoe’s postseason woes have been at the forefront of the blame for Milwaukee’s lack of postseason success over the past three seasons, justifiably. The guard is coming off arguably his worst playoff outing with the Bucks, averaging just 11.7 points on .388/.250/.808 shooting splits, 5.9 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game across nine contests.

With it being an “open secret” that the team will trade him, Paul checks off all of the boxes when looking for an upgrade. Paul is a better scorer, floor general, playmaker, floor spacer, and will be heading to the Hall of Fame the second he becomes eligible. While the 35-year-old’s best days very well might be behind him with 15 seasons under his belt, he turned back the clock in this past postseason.

Appearing in seven games, Paul averaged 21.3 points on .491/.372/.885 shooting slashes, 7.4 rebounds, and 5.3 points per game. That type of guard play in the postseason is what Milwaukee lacked in recent memory, and Paul could unquestionably help them get over the hump.

It remains to be seen whether the Milwaukee Bucks remain firm on their stance regarding a Chris Paul trade, but given the circumstances, perhaps they should give it some more thought.
