Milwaukee Bucks: Where wing rotation stands going into offseason – Wesley Matthews

Last but certainly not least, Wesley Matthews may become the Bucks’ free agent this offseason.

Of course, that’s dependent on what Matthews decides to do with $2.6 million player option for next season, which will be coming between this year’s draft and the start of free agency. Personally speaking, no one would fault the 34-year-old going back into free agency to survey his options and potentially earn more money, even in what will be a harsh free agent market.

After all, Matthews showed his sturdy 3-and-D services all throughout his Milwaukee homecoming last season where he averaged 7.4 points per game, shot 36.4 percent from deep and routinely guarded premier players in the biggest moments of the Bucks’ season.

For all of those reasons and taking into account the uncertainty on the wing, the Bucks should be very invested in trying to secure Matthews for another season. They’ll do so against some competition, most likely from fellow title contenders, and the Miami Heat are already one reported suitor for the former Golden Eagle.

There are plenty of questions facing the Bucks this offseason, but there’s no question that of all position groups on their roster, their wing depth could feature the most changes year over year. We’ll see how it all shakes out for them and the players involved.
