Giannis Antetokounmpo: 3 playmaking free agents to pair with the MVP – No. 2 Jeff Teague

Jeff Teague is not the most highly-decorated point guard in the association, but he is a compelling fit next to Giannis Antetokounmpo and could be available this offseason.

The 32-year-old point guard currently ranks 15th among active players in total assists, asserting himself as a top-tier floor general over the years. Over his ongoing 11-year career, Teague is sitting at 5.8 assists per game average, a number that will make him a compelling target for teams in the market for a second-unit floor general.

After missing the postseason for the past two seasons, Teague is ready to get back to winning, as he told HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto in a recent sitdown interview:

"Honestly, I just want to go to a team where we’re playing to win. I want to win. Like you’ve said, I’ve been to the playoffs for the first nine years of my career. That’s all I know is winning, competing, and trying to get to that ultimate goal of a championship. That’s what I want to play for is to win. If that’s starting or coming off the bench, I just want to play a significant role in winning. That’s really it for me. I know if I get a chance to play and compete, I’m going to play well. I’m not really worried about an exact situation, or I need to be able to start or whatever. I just know if I can get on a team and we’re going to win, I’m going to help in any way, and I’ll affect us winning."

Teague would be a snug fit in that bench role for the Bucks, but it hinges on what happens with their current guard rotation.

While Bledsoe is likely gone, the future of backup point guard George Hill is also up in the air, as his $9 million salary could be pivotal in any trades that the Bucks make this offseason. If both of Milwaukee’s point guards find new homes this offseason, the Wake Forest alum would be a great choice to bring in some playmaking.

Adding fuel to the fire, Teague played the best basketball of his career under Milwaukee’s current coach Mike Budenholzer when the pair were together with the Atlanta Hawks. It was there that the guard earned his sole All-Star nomination in the 2014-15 season. Whether that familiarity could gauge Teague’s interest in a potential reunion or not, his playmaking prowess should certainly be captivating for the Bucks.
