Milwaukee Bucks: 5 free agents to target with bi-annual exception
Milwaukee Bucks: 5 free agents to target with bi-annual exception – Langston Galloway
One of the more notable undrafted success stories of many in recent memory, Langston Galloway came into his own amid a season full of futility for the Detroit Pistons.
The St. Joseph product is coming off the most efficient season of his career where he averaged 10.3 points, shot 39.9 percent from three and compiled a 58.4 true shooting percentage over 66 appearances and 1,702 total minutes.
Undersized at 6’1,” Galloway’s off-ball shooting is an instant boost for any team in need of more 3-point proficiency. To that point, Galloway was one of the most prolific and efficient 3-point shooters off the catch last season as he hit 127 total triples and converted such attempts at a 40.7 percent clip. That alone put the six-year veteran in a rare class of accomplished and dangerous shooters.
Although Galloway doesn’t offer much in the way of playmaking or shot creation, he’s a smart ball mover as evidenced by his career turnover percentage (7 percent). Defensively, Galloway’s size could be a problem in playoff-like scenarios, but his hustle and and competitiveness could go a long way in that regard.
Galloway just wrapped up his three-year, $21 million deal with Detroit and according to The Athletic’s James L. Edwards ($$), it’s a 50-50 proposition that Galloway returns to the Motor City due to a difference in contract negotiations.
From that lens, it’s very possible that Galloway’s market value is above the Bucks’ bi-annual exception. If that’s the case, they’ll have to think twice before dipping into their mid-level money in what could be a competitive market for the 28-year-old this offseason.
