What can the Milwaukee Bucks get with the 42nd pick in the draft?

Historically, there’s not exactly an illustrious list of prospects that have gone to be something of note after being selected with the 42nd overall pick.

That shouldn’t be considered a revelation by any means, given how deep into the draft this is at this point. But there have been a number of recent examples of players selected with the 42nd pick that have panned out into being nice rotation players, with some of those being Patrick Beverley, Davis Bertans, Thomas Bryant, Stephen Jackson and Zaza Pachulia

Of course, both Beverley and Bertans both started their professional careers overseas before entering the NBA where they’re currently nice rotation players. The same applied to Jackson before breaking through into the NBA in the early 2000s when he logged many stints over his 14-year NBA career.

Bryant looks to have found his footing as a starting NBA center with the Washington Wizards after entering the league more than two years ago. Meanwhile, Zaza Pachulia was a solid rotational big on many teams over the years, including having two stints with the Bucks over his career.

Milwaukee has previously had the 42nd overall pick on two occasions as they selected Mike Davis at that spot in the 1983 NBA Draft as well as took Doron Lamb with that selection in the 2012 NBA Draft.

Again, no one should assume the Bucks could find a diamond in the rough as they have previous second rounders over the last decade. But at least the opportunity could be there, even in a class that’s as unpredictable and has a lot of moving parts as this one.
