Milwaukee Bucks: 5 free agents to target with midlevel exception – Markieff Morris

Markieff Morris is fresh off of winning an NBA championship after joining the Los Angeles Lakers.

That move essentially served to rehabilitate his NBA career as he played decently-sized role in their run to last year’s title. That came after a resurgence, especially after an injury-riddled 2018-19 season that could have derailed his NBA career.

Morris is coming off a season in which he shot 38.6 percent from three during the regular season in both Detroit and Los Angeles and 42 percent during the playoffs points to his ability to space the floor. With the defensive toughness he brings to the table, Morris can occupy both frontcourt spots, depending on the lineup configuration.

The Bucks’ frontcourt depth is completely bare behind Antetokounmpo and Lopez after their trades and Robin Lopez declining his $5 million player option. Using part of the Bucks’ MLE to sign Morris may be a stretch financially compared to his role and contributions and he could end up being had for the minimum, but we’ll see what kind of market shakes out for the 31-year-old.
