Milwaukee Bucks: 3 reasons why Jrue Holiday trade was worth the price – Strong pitch towards Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Milwaukee Bucks has been a hot topic of discussion since the team’s second-round defeat to the Miami Heat. Speculation continues looming over the Bucks whether they could be capable of surrounding him with a championship-caliber squad or if he would be better off taking his talents elsewhere.
Antetokunmpo himself wanted to see some roster adjustments, as he said in a recent interview with the Swedish outlet Aftonbladet as was recently transcribed and translated by Pro Basketball Talk’s Kurt Helin:
"Aftonbladet: So your plan is to stay in Milwaukee next year and then maybe sign an extension? Giannis: “I do not know what the plan is. It depends on what decisions they make. If they make the right decision, I’ll be there for many years. If they do not, we’ll see. The NBA is a business and we take it day by day. Hopefully we can succeed together.”"
A few days later, the Bucks now have a star in the backcourt thanks to efforts from general manager Jon Horst. Antetokounmpo wanted to see some improvements with the roster, and Horst delivered with the acquisition of Holiday. While adding Bogdanovic could have further cemented Antetokounmpo’s long-term future in Milwaukee, Holiday may more be than enough to convince the two-time MVP of staying.
Only time will tell if this move and others down the road can convince Antetokounmpo to sign the dotted line on an extension this offseason, but the Bucks are doing everything they can to ensure he does.
