Milwaukee Bucks: Getting to know All-Star guard Jrue Holiday

Getting an expert’s opinion on Jrue Holiday’s fit with the Milwaukee Bucks
To get a better outlook on Jrue Holiday before he takes the court for the Milwaukee Bucks, I spoke with Nick Alvarez, the site co-expert over at FanSided’s New Orleans Pelicans site, Pelican Debrief. Here’s our brief Q&A:
First, I know you’re likely very satisfied with the haul you got in return for Jrue Holiday, but how do you feel about him going to the Milwaukee Bucks as well as his fit next to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton?
"“I’m happy that Jrue’s going to a situation like Milwaukee where he can contend for a championship because he was such a great person and leader for the New Orleans Pelicans. If anyone deserves to win a title, it’s him. I also think he’ll do well in Milwaukee with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. After seeing how last season ended, it felt like that duo needed a secondary playmaker/ball-handler on the perimeter. That, along with Holiday’s defense, should make them a terrific trio.”"
Having another fantastic season, Holiday took home the NBA’s Teammate of the Year honors for 2019-20. Could you speak on the kind of teammate that he is and what his veteran presence meant to that Pelicans’ core?
"“Holiday is a great teammate and as a veteran, he really took it on himself to mentor the Pelican’ young core. After plays, you could always see Holiday going up and putting his arm around guys like Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram just to help explain things to them or motivate them. I think he’s definitely good at building confidence and I could see that helping younger players on the Bucks and even a star like Giannis Antetokounmpo.”"
What is something about Holiday that you would tell Bucks fans who aren’t too familiar with the guard?
"“The biggest thing that Bucks fans should know about Holiday is that he’s a dog on defense in the best possible way. Tough, gritty, however you want to put it. He consistently stays in front of his man, works his tail off and never gives up on a play. I think with that also comes leadership too. Not a vocal player, but he leads by example.”"
A special thanks to Nick for taking the time to discuss Jrue Holiday and the Milwaukee Bucks with me. With the 2020-21 season set to start in a few weeks, we are all anxious to see how Holiday’s next chapter plays out.
