What does Jaylen Adams bring to the table to the Milwaukee Bucks?

Starting all this off, there’s no question that Adams can fill it up as he has shown over the last year-plus with the Herd especially.

Perhaps the most appealing part of Adams’ prolific scoring abilities is his shooting prowess off the dribble, especially from 3-point range. Shooting a 40.7 percent clip on threes shows his deadly efficiency on such shots overall, but 46 percent of Adams’ 87 triples last year were unassisted, per the G League’s stats database.

Of course, that came as a result of the high-usage role had with the Herd as shown by his 25.2 usage percentage last year. Still, Adams can pull up at will.

The same is true of his limitless range from downtown. On threes taken between 25 to 29 feet, Adams went 76-for-170 last year, good for 44.7 percent. Given how the Bucks have prized spacing their shooters well behind the 3-point line, Adams gives them a credible threat in that regard.

Elsewhere, Adams is a smooth operator with the ball in his hands and a willing playmaker, even as he does have to sharpen his decision making as shown by his 18.3 turnover percentage last season. And as his finishing is considered, Adams converted 67.3 percent of his 153 attempts in the restricted area.

On the other side of the ball, Adams’ size (6’2″) does stand as a concern, especially in the jump up to the NBA. But his strength, mobility and high IQ has been key to him competing defensively and he’s quietly a smart defender that regularly hops into passing lanes to snatch steals.

Now whether he will ultimately see meaningful minutes to show all of his skills and abilities remains to be seen, but he’s certainly shown that he’s up for the task to provide emergency minutes if need be.
