Milwaukee Bucks: 3 ways Jordan Nwora can crack rotation this season
By Dalton Sell
No. 3 goal – Expand offensive skillset
Nwora’s 3-point prowess is going to earn him minutes for the Bucks, but he should look to expand his offensive arsenal.
The two biggest holes in his game remain his playmaking and his ball handling. If he is indeed going to make the transition from power forward to small forward in the NBA, adding both of those facets to his skillset will be crucial. During his final two seasons as Louisville, Nwora averaged just 1.3 assists to 2.2 turnovers per game. Numbers like that are certainly not going to cut it, especially when teams do their part defensively to take away his 3-point shooting.
Nwora heard the criticism and question marks surrounding his game, and he worked relentlessly to improve these aspects in the months leading up to the draft. In fact, Nwora worked closely with former Canisius College product and European pro Darren Fenn to work on these shortcomings, per Jerry Sullivan of WIVB4.com:
"“Fenn said Nwora’s ballhandling and decision-making, which have been criticized, are much-improved. He said they’ve worked on Nwora making decisions and creating offense under pressure. There’s no question he can score. Last season, he averaged 18.0 points and shot 40.2 percent from three-point range, often getting double-teamed by ACC opponents.”"
Now, only time will tell if Jordan Nwora’s hard work can translate to production for the Milwaukee Bucks, but it would help his case to be a regular in the rotation.
