Goal no. 2 – Become Bucks’ premier wing stopper

After being the best defensive team in the NBA in each of the last two seasons, the Bucks have made no secret that the crux of their identity lies on that side of the ball.

There’s no question that Craig and his skill set fits the overall ethos that has been the backbone to the team’s success over the Mike Budenholzer era. And the Bucks are in the need of a stout on-ball defender on the wing after the aforementioned departure of Matthews, who headed to LA quickly in free agency.

As he showed during his three seasons in Denver, Craig’s proclivity to guard some of the more premier wing scorers in the NBA and do so successfully makes him an ideal candidate.

With the size, length and athleticism Craig possesses, the South Carolina native is more than well-equipped to shadow and mirror opposing wing players on the perimeter. More importantly, Craig has embraced putting on his proverbial hard hat and has made that his calling card over his various stops around the world. That mentality is something he’s already looked to implement upon coming to Milwaukee.

Craig’s ability to guard multiple positions will help in being able to increase the Bucks’ defensive versatility and the fact that he digs in and limits top wing scorers to the degree that he does gives Milwaukee quite the hard nosed defensive stalwart.
