Goal no. 3 – Bring off-ball movement

For as crucial as being able to space the floor is to his overall fit in the Bucks’ system, Craig comes into an established foundation of high-usage focal points.

With the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton all holding the bulk of offensive responsibilities, being able to play off of stars is something Craig is familiar with after having played next to the likes of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.

What he can hopefully bring from his time with the Nuggets and their movement-happy system is the ability to capitalize off the gravity set up by the two-time MVP and the Bucks’ shot creators.

While it doesn’t come at a very high volume, Craig’s ability to make well-timed cuts on the wing or off the baseline and finish at the basket could give the Bucks a different dimension on offense. Craig averaged 1.5 points per possession on cuts last season, ranking him in the 88th percentile of players around the league.

Even as the blueprint for the Bucks’ offense is set in stone, the fact that they have struggled and grown static on that side of the ball when it has mattered most has opened up the need for more movement. If Craig can give that when opposing defenses look to shut down the Bucks’ attack, it could go a long way on the front.

We’ll just have to see whether Torrey Craig can make a meaningful impact over this coming season with the Bucks, but he will certainly have the role to do so.
