Milwaukee Bucks: 3 goals for Bryn Forbes in 2020-21 season
Goal no. 3 – Develop chemistry with cornerstones
As Forbes fills a specialist role that will play off of the Bucks’ shot creators swimmingly, the steady decision making he brings to the court will be great to make sure the ball keeps moving in the Bucks’ offense. To that point, Forbes has accumulated a career 8.2 turnover percentage to pair with his 17.5 usage percentage over his time in San Antonio.
With all that in mind, Forbes brings a level of composure and control when stepping foot on the floor. Those will be necessary traits to build chemistry with his new teammates, especially those pulling the strings for the Bucks’ offense.
Whether that leads to an instant chemistry of sorts remains to be seen, but Forbes’ ability to work well in a two-man game will give the Bucks a little more unpredictability that suits their read-and-react system. Forbes averaged 1.13 points per handoff possession, a number that ranked him in the 85th percentile of players last season.
The threat of Forbes’ shooting ability makes running such sets a dangerous prospect for opposing defenses and the fact that he can make simple reads in such situations is even more appealing from a Bucks perspective.
Clearly Forbes possesses the skills and qualities to fill a role that the Bucks will need to improve their offensive capabilities going into the 2020-21 season. Now whether he makes good on that promise is the bigger question.
