How much will the Milwaukee Bucks’ stars play over the 2020-21 season?

While not as important as injecting more variety into their system, the minutes distributions of the Bucks’ stars have been an interesting topic over the Budenholzer era.

Of course, the biggest point of ire for most, if not all Bucks fans was the fact that Budenholzer wasn’t turning his best players loose in the series against the Heat and largely kept their minutes capped to where they were in the regular season. In turn, the Bucks have relied on their proverbial strength in numbers, but it put them at a severe disadvantage in the playoffs and against the Heat especially.

Whether it’s a matter of foul trouble or being able to maintain his endless energy for longer spurts, there are certain hurdles facing Antetokounmpo in playing larger minutes than we’ve seen over the last two seasons. Those obstacles, however, aren’t preventing Middleton, the Bucks’ most well-rounded scorer, from seeing the floor for substantial minutes when it has mattered most.

Budenholzer has veered away from in saving his best players when the Bucks have had their backs against the wall, but it can be best described as too little, too late in that regard.

All of this is a far cry from what Bucks fans grew accustomed to seeing over the Jason Kidd-Joe Prunty era. Trying to find that sweet spot of having the Bucks’ best and most impactful players on the floor without overextending them will be critical for Budenholzer, especially in big games that will test their mettle ahead of the playoffs.
