Milwaukee Bucks: 3 things we learned during their opening week
The Milwaukee Bucks’ rotation leaves one offseason addition on the outside looking in
After overhauling their roster over the condensed offseason, we’ve seen many of the Bucks’ additions in action through their first three games.
As such, we’ve seen a lot of Bucks debuts over the last few days and the different flavor their bench unit will offer this season. But one such offseason addition appears to be on the periphery of the team’s rotation, that being Torrey Craig.
Craig made his Bucks debut late in their Christmas Day drubbing over the Warriors and saw nearly 10 minutes on the floor. Unfortunately, Craig’s night was cut shot in the Bucks’ loss to the Knicks where he left the game after taking an elbow to the face and we’ll have to see how much it will affect his status moving forward.
While Budenholzer noted his excitement of having Craig on board, it certainly seems like he’ll have to wait for his chance to break into the rotation with the players he’s turned to early on the year.
For context, Craig had been bothered by a groin injury during the Bucks’ training camp and preseason. To what effect that has had on his playing status is unknown, but it certainly lagged him behind those that were able to stay healthy going into the season.
That doesn’t mean Craig’s chance for minutes won’t come over the course of the season. And Budenholzer’s comments underscore the challenge the Bucks face in trying to integrate all of their new additions with the foundation they had established over the last two seasons specifically.
Craig will have his time to shine in the team’s rotation, whether it’s due to injury, poor performance or anything along those lines. While we knock on wood for those specific circumstances not to unfold, time will tell when the veteran wing gets that chance.
