End of deer list: The 10 moments and milestones that defined the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2020
The Milwaukee Bucks go all in for Jrue Holiday
In light of the latest playoff disappointment, the Bucks entered the offseason with plenty of uncertainty.
With Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future potentially on the line as he weighed whether to sign his supermax extension this offseason, the Bucks had to act very aggressively to shore up their roster while the Greek superstar watched their offseason unfold from afar. The Bucks did that by acquiring the multi-dimensional Jrue Holiday.
Milwaukee spared no expense in trying to land the veteran guard last month as they parted ways with Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, three first round picks and agreed to two pick swaps with the New Orleans Pelicans. The combination of the haul it took to get Holiday and the fact that he holds a player option for the 2021-22 season headlines the risk involved in such a move (it should be noted Holiday is extension-eligible starting in February).
On the other hand, the Bucks had no choice but to turn over their established roster and hierarchy after how their last two playoff runs had unfolded. As talented of a player as he is, Bledsoe’s extensive playoff struggles was too big of a blight to move forward with him for another season.
Now as the process starts to come together for the Bucks with Holiday now in the fold, we’ll see how improved this Bucks team will be, all with the playoffs in mind. But Holiday has certainly brought an instant jolt to the 2020-21 season and Bucks fans are eager to see what the future will hold with the well-rounded guard.
