Takeaway no. 2 – Donte DiVincenzo’s first sign of shooting struggles

It’s been quite a hot start to the Bucks’ 2020-21 season for Donte DiVincenzo.

But Monday night was a different affair for the third-year Bucks guard as he finished with just five points on 2-for-9 shooting (1-for-6 from three), nine assists, five boards, a pair of steals and a block in 29 minutes and 42 seconds.

Of course, it’s easy to look at DiVincenzo’s struggles from beyond the arc, which served as his first true poor performance from that range on the season. Still, it hasn’t diminished the significant inroads that he has made in improving 3-point prowess nearly two weeks into the campaign.

While DiVincenzo wasn’t clicking on all cylinders with his scoring, the fact that he led the team with his nine assists certainly helped him influence the game in different ways than we’ve come to see from the 23-year-old.

DiVincenzo was certainly slinging some dimes all night long, like this heaving overhead bounce pass to All-Star Khris Middleton who went in to put down a dazzling reverse finish and earned a shooting foul in the process.

While DiVincenzo’s 3-point shooting proved to be quite the blemish, being able to contribute in several other ways certainly helped the Bucks being able to take a relatively easy victory in the manner they did.
