Takeaway No. 1 – Tough night for the league’s top-ranked offense

Nine games into the season, the Bucks had been the best offensive team in the entire association. They ranked first in scoring at 124.4 points per game, with the second-best team being more than five whole points lower.

While the Bucks had been red-hot offensively until this point, they cooled off significantly against the Cavaliers. This was evident by the team scoring just 100 points throughout four quarters of action, far below their typical quota to this point.

Of course, the Bucks missed approximately 27 points from their leading scorer Giannis Antetokounmpo, which should not be overlooked. Still, the rest of the roster struggled, particularly from 3-point territory, where they shot just 12-of-36 on the night as a unit. Thankfully, the Bucks managed to hold the Cavaliers to a whopping 7-of-26 from behind the arc, or things could have gotten out of hand fairly quickly.

The Bucks have been inconsistent with their long-distance shooting 10 games into the season, sometimes torching their opponents, while other nights they seem like they are unable to throw a rock into the ocean. Saturday night’s matchup certainly fit in the latter category, but it did not matter as Milwaukee prevailed with the 100-90 victory over Cleveland. Offense is proving to be a strong suit for this team early on, just not in this game.
