Milwaukee Bucks keys to victory vs Magic: D.J. Augustin finds groove against former team

Monday night will mark the first time that new Bucks reserve guard D.J. Augustin will face up against his former team after having spent the last four seasons in Orlando.

While it’s early in his Bucks tenure, Augustin has been among the most high-profile Bucks players to have gotten off to a shaky start to the season. Augustin is currently averaging 5.8 points on .348/.375/1.000 shooting, 2.8 assists and 1.4 rebounds across his nine appearances on the year.

Augustin has certainly had to adjust the most out of all the Bucks’ new additions as he’s regularly played with another guard or ball handler on the floor, which has obviously limited his usage on the ball.

When he’s had the ball to either score or make plays for others, it’s clear Augustin is trying to find chemistry with his new teammates and find his place in the Bucks’ offensive system. And his size deficiencies and finishing concerns have resulted into some ugly possessions as evidenced by the fact he’s 4-for-14 on 2-point shots to start the year, a mark of 28.6 percent.

It’s still early into the season, but it will take plenty of time and reps for Augustin to find his place, especially after having his role well defined for the last four seasons. With plenty of changes to get used to, the veteran guard will have the opportunities to find his way as the season goes along.
