Second key – The Milwaukee Bucks neutralize Jerami Grant

The Pistons offense this year has expectedly been primarily subpar, though that hasn’t been helped by the revolving door of injuries and absences they have dealt with this young season.

While it’s essentially the start of a long rebuild for Detroit, their star free agent acquisition, Jerami Grant, has looked right at home with the Pistons as he’s putting up career numbers at this stage. Grant is averaging a team-leading 25.1 points per game on .465/.375/.867 shooting splits, 6.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists.

That includes dropping 31 points on 10-of-25 shooting in the Bucks’ second victory over the Pistons last week Wednesday night, which he went out and matched in Detroit’s win over the Phoenix Suns the next game.

We’re seeing the lengths to which having Grant as a team’s top scorer can do, but that shouldn’t denigrate the personal strides he has made, especially after landing such a lucrative deal in the offseason.

As Omari Sankofa of the Detroit Free Press made note of Tuesday afternoon, the Pistons will get a boost with veteran point guard Derrick Rose being listed as probable after suffering a knee injury against the Bucks one week ago. Rose’s shot creation has long been a thorn in the Bucks’ side and will be an additional thing to watch for.

But if he is limited in any fashion, the Pistons’ head of the snake run through Grant and how the Bucks will look to defend and throw different looks at him will be interesting to follow as the night progresses.
