Third key – The Milwaukee Bucks win the 3-point battle

For the problems that the Nets pose to the Bucks between Durant, Harden and Irving, the Bucks’ offensive firepower will be tough for a middling defensive team like Brooklyn to handle.

In fact, we will see two of the best 3-point shooting teams in the league face off against one another to add to the high-profile affair Monday night. The Bucks till are tied for hitting the most total triples of all teams in the league (212) and are second in the league in 3-point percentage at 41.1 percent while Brooklyn ranks third in both total threes (202) and 3-point percentage (39.8 percent).

For all of those reasons, it’s unsurprisingly shaping up that whoever is more successful from beyond the arc will ultimately win the battle Monday night.

The high-level shotmaking that Brooklyn provides goes beyond their newly formed trio that the Bucks will spend plenty of time trying to defend.

Someone like Joe Harris, who is averaging 14.6 points per game and is shooting a remarkable 49.4 percent from three, poses an entirely different problem than the ones the Bucks are looking to solve whenever Durant, Harden and/or Irving are on the floor. Same goes for Landry Shamet, though he’s been mired in a poor shooting slump to start the season at 5.4 points per game and 30.6 percent from three.

How Budenholzer will change the Bucks’ pick-and-roll coverage will be interesting to follow along for all of these reasons as a way to limit the Nets’ overall firepower. Likewise, the Bucks’ 3-point shooting has held up, save for a few blips here and there, and the Nets’ defense is certainly not known for its intensity by any means, especially after shuttling out a good chunk of their existing roster in the Harden trade.
