Panic or patience on three struggling Milwaukee Bucks: Donte DiVincenzo

Donte DiVincenzo looked fantastic throughout the first five games of the season for the Milwaukee Bucks. The third-year guard averaged 14 points on .542/.615/.667 shooting splits, having shown significant improvement to his offensive skill set, particularly his shooting from the perimeter.

DiVincenzo seemed poised to have a big year putting up career numbers as Milwaukee’s starting shooting guard from the jump. However, he has cooled off lately, averaging just eight points on a .375/.333/.800 slash line since the start of January. Donte has finished scoring in double-figures in just three of the nine games this month, compared to all five in December.

Despite these struggles, it is not time to hit the panic button on Donte DiVincenzo just yet. Given the sizeable role he plays for the Bucks, it is oftentimes easy to forget that he is the second-youngest player on this roster at just 23 years old. DiVincenzo is not a perfect player by any means, and now taking on the responsibility as a full-time starter, he was expected to go through some growing pains.

Donte’s struggles have been on full display lately, but he has already shown that he is capable of making an impact with his much-improved offensive arsenal. On top of that, he is showing strides on the defensive end as he continues to get more top-tier assignments as a starter. As the season progresses, DiVincenzo will hopefully grow more comfortable and return to his red-hot form that he started the season with.

Final Verdict: Patience

Whether the likes of Augustin, DiVincenzo, and Lopez can find their form is the big question as the Bucks can certainly use all of the help they can get from their supporting cast.
