Milwaukee Bucks: 3 keys to victory against Hawks – Keep Atlanta off the line

The Bucks may have their dwindling issues from the free-throw line throughout 15 games this season, but the Hawks have not. With the Hawks tied for first place in free throw attempts per game at 26.6, the Bucks will have to keep their hands to themselves on the defensive end.

Thankfully, they are one of the more well-disciplined teams on defense across the league. Averaging just 18.7 personal fouls per game, the Bucks are currently tied for 23rd in the league in such stat and rank third in opponent free throw attempt rate. That self-control will be crucial in a game where the opposing team has a knack for getting to the line and putting extra points on the scoreboard.

In particular, one player that the Bucks will have to limit from the line is Atlanta’s Trae Young. Young is averaging an astounding 10.1 attempts from the charity stripe this season per game and has racked up a total of 152 tries through 15 games. That gives him the most attempts from the line this season for a player by a country mile, with the next two on the list being Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers (133) and Milwaukee’s own Giannis Antetokounmpo (132).

Slowing down the All-Star guard will be a tall task in itself for the Bucks, which could be their biggest key to victory on the night, especially given how well he has played lately.
