Milwaukee Bucks: 3 keys to victory against Hawks – Contain Trae Young
Trae Young is the head of the snake for the Hawks, and the Bucks will be put to the test in trying to keep him in check. The third-year guard has either been hot or cold this season, but following an awful four point, 1-for-11 shooting night on January 15 against the Utah Jazz, Young has turned his game up a notch.
In the four games since, the 22-year-old has averaged 31.8 points on 43.5 percent shooting from the floor and 44.5 percent from behind the arc and is looking like the All-Star starter that he was last season. Perhaps the most important tidbit is that the Hawks have gone 3-1 in that stretch, and they currently have all the momentum in their favor.
Young has finally found a consistent groove offensively, and the Bucks will have to keep him limited, particularly from 3-point territory. While Young is undoubtedly a phenomenal offensive talent, the Bucks have a pair of defensive specialists that will make him work for every basket.
Jrue Holiday has already shown his defensive prowess for the Bucks early on and will likely find himself attached to Young at the hip for most of the night. On top of that, his backcourt mate and ascending star defender, Donte DiVincenzo, will also get his share of looks at Young on the night to keep him contained. Trae Young should have his hands full trying to keep his recent hot streak alive offensively with these two guarding him.
The Bucks face a conference opponent tonight as the Atlanta Hawks stroll into town, and getting a win would be a significant boost after their recent two-game skid. You can catch the action tonight at 7:00 p.m. on Fox Sports Wisconsin or on NBA TV.
