Second key to victory against Toronto Raptors – Milwaukee Bucks need to limit turnovers

The Bucks are tied for 17th in the league in turnovers, racking up 14.4 turnovers per game. They have been sloppy at times, and that carelessness could cause some trouble against certain teams, particularly the Raptors.

Toronto has been capitalizing on their opponent’s mistakes all season by currently averaging 19.5 points off turnovers per game. Along with their opponents’ mistakes, the Raptors have also proved to be a pesky presence defensively to create turnovers. They are currently tied for fifth place in steals with 5.8 per game, and their ability to score on those opportunities has been one of their most apparent strong suits all season.

This was on full display in the team’s game against the Indiana Pacers on January 24. The Raptors forced the Pacers to commit a season-high 18 turnovers, which resulted in an astounding 26 Raptor points. Toronto ended up winning by a small margin of five points, which showcases how pivotal their capitalization on turnovers proved to be.

It goes without saying that the Bucks need to limit turnovers in any game, but it could hurt them more than usual against this Raptors team. With nearly 20 of Toronto’s 110 points per game coming strictly off turnovers, taking good care of the basketball will be pivotal for Milwaukee.
