Milwaukee Bucks: Players who will compete for All-Star honors – Giannis Antetokounmpo

Last but certainly not least, Giannis Antetokounmpo appears to be a lock for starting honors in the Eastern Conference frontcourt this season. The Greek Freak has been a starter and team captain for the conference for the past two seasons, and he is having another great year.

Antetokounmpo is averaging 27.3 points on .558/.280/.593 shooting splits, 11 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in 32.9 minutes per game. He is also putting up better counting stats on the defensive end than he did during his Defensive Player of the Year campaign last year, averaging 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks each.

Numbers like that will almost certainly earn the two-time MVP his fifth All-Star nomination, but there is still room for Giannis to improve. He has surprisingly regressed statistically compared to last season in points, rebounds, 3-point percentage, and most notably, free-throw percentage. Antetokounmpo is currently shooting a career-worst 59.1 percent from the line, a glaring issue that has proven to be problematic throughout this season.

Still, Giannis has been putting up MVP caliber numbers, and he will earn All-Star recognition because of it. The only question is whether he will be accompanied by Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday in receiving the honors.

Could the Milwaukee Bucks genuinely have three All-Stars for the first time since 1974-75? Achieving such a feat will be a tough task without question, but it is certainly in the cards.
