Takeaway no. 2 from win over Blazers – Milwaukee Bucks’ bench levels up

When the Bucks have played their best basketball so far this season, they have had plenty of help and contributions along the way.

Their bench unit has certainly had their struggles and have had trouble playing up to winning teams, but that was not the case against the Blazers as the Bucks had 64 points come from their bench.

Bobby Portis certainly came to play by leading the Bucks’ bench brigade by matching his season-high of 21 points while going 9-for-13 from the field (3-for-5 from downtown), along with eight rebounds, two assists as well as two steals in more than 23-and-a-half minutes.

Portis wasn’t the only one who pitched in with a scoring punch. D.J. Augustin also matched his season-high with 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three, along with six assists, five boards in 17-and-a-half minutes of run. Last but not least, Bryn Forbes reached double figures for the eighth time this season with 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting and 3-of-5 from downtown in 18 minutes of burn.

To expect this kind of lift on a nightly basis hasn’t and isn’t realistic with the ups and downs the Bucks’ bench has had this season. But they certainly showed what they are capable of Monday night.
