Checking in on previously rumored Milwaukee Bucks’ trade targets — Victor Oladipo

At the start of the offseason, one name that was consistently linked to the Bucks in trade rumors was Victor Oladipo. The two-time All-Star was then a member of the Indiana Pacers, and any potential rumor involving Oladipo coming to fruition came to a halt when the Bucks acquired Jrue Holiday.

Oladipo was eventually traded to the Houston Rockets in the blockbuster James Harden trade last month, and he has been playing great basketball down there. One factor that likely made teams like Milwaukee hesitant to trade for Oladipo was the uncertainty surrounding his health after playing in just 19 regular season games last year. Now, it appears that the guard has started to regain his All-Star form, and that could make him an appealing trade target.

As Tim Bontemps noted in the aforementioned report, the Rockets could be open to dealing the guard if the opportunity is right. Would the Bucks be open to potentially reigniting their interest to bolster their backcourt if possible? Given Oladipo’s hefty $21 million expiring salary and Milwaukee’s limited asset cabinet, it’s an impossible task without the Bucks gutting an essential part of their foundation and starting lineup.
