Takeaway no. 1 from loss to Oklahoma City Thunder- Second quarter dooms Milwaukee Bucks

There’s no question the Bucks’ play in the second half put them in a position to potentially seal their comeback effort. That is before it all came crashing down late as they couldn’t hit shots to put it into motion.

The fact, though, that the Bucks had to come back from an 11-point deficit after halftime and scoring just 17 points in the second period was the unnecessary backdrop for which the Bucks had to break out of their cold spell.

It wasn’t just that shots weren’t falling for multiple Bucks players of that span, save for Khris Middleton. Milwaukee’ overall execution and sloppy decision making with the ball dooming the Bucks even further and led to Milwaukee having 11 first half turnovers.

Left with little margin to error to operate in the second half, the Bucks had to play a near flawless half to pull off their comeback and they ended up running out of gas when it came down to it.

We’ve seen the Bucks in similar spots like, say, in their loss to the New Orleans Pelicans last month where all of the energy they need to get back into a game runs out when the time comes to push their comeback over into a win. Don’t be surprised to see it happen again if the Bucks turn out a poor first half like they did Sunday night.

The Bucks will look to break their three-game losing streak when they kick off their eight-game homestand Tuesday night versus the Toronto Raptors for a 7 o’clock tilt.
