Milwaukee Bucks: Three stars of the week after breaking losing streak
The Milwaukee Bucks’ third star of the week — Thanasis Antetokounmpo
With the Bucks looking to be in dire straits at the height of their losing streak, the Bucks clearly needed an energy boost. Enter Thanasis Antetokounmpo.
The week changed once Budenholzer inserted the elder Antetokounmpo into the Bucks’ rotation during their second loss to the Toronto Raptors and it has since spelled his brother as the Bucks’ backup 4 in their last two games.
For Thanasis, stats will never be the thing that lands him on this list. After all, Thanasis’ first stint in the rotation featured all of the intangibles that is very apparent, whether it’s hustling on both ends, saving loose balls or willing to take on any and all defensive challenges.
There are definite skill limitations that come with having Thanasis earn the limited minutes he has as of late and the same goes for the quick foul trouble he can get in. However, his contagious energy brings a different dimension that was certainly needed as the Bucks lost their balance over their losing skid.
With newcomer Torrey Craig going through his ups and downs when seeing rotation minutes, Thanasis, being the firestarter that he is, as supplanted Craig for the time being. And the emotional lift that he brings has coincided with the Bucks starting to find their rhythm again without Holiday.
With the week in the books, we’ll be back again next week to see who all emerges as the Bucks’ top three stars as they continue their homestand against the Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans and L.A. Clippers.
