Third key to victory when hosting Denver Nuggets — Milwaukee Bucks must slow down MVP candidate Nikola Jokic

Although Denver has not had the most team success this season, Nikola Jokic’s heroic efforts should not be overshadowed by that. The big man has been having a season for the history books this year, and the Bucks will face a tall task in slowing him down.

Jokic is averaging 27.1 points on .566/.411/.882 shooting splits, 11 rebounds, and an astounding 8.5 assists per game on the year. The 26-year-old has rightfully asserted himself into the MVP conversation, and he had himself a big game the last time these two teams squared off against one another.

In 39 minutes, Jokic finished with a game-high 35 points by shooting 13-of-26 from the floor, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc. The big man was scoring the ball at will all night while also chipping in 12 rebounds and six assists. Despite his efforts, the Bucks were able to win that game by double-figures, and they must emphasize slowing him down this time around.

Brook Lopez, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Bobby Portis will have a long night ahead of them trying to keep the Serbian international in check, but they are more than capable.
