The Milwaukee Bucks have controlled the transition game over their win streak.
As the Bucks’ win streak has grown to five wins, their ability to masterfully handle the transition game on both ends of the floor has been a key ingredient over this run.
Over this streak, the Bucks are averaging 15.4 fast break points, which has been key in sparking their offense throughout this run. The more important development, though, is the fact that the Bucks have allowed 7 opponent fast break points per game has certainly lifted them on the defensive end of the floor.
Of course, context is key and Milwaukee has gone up against slower-paced teams like the Clippers or teams that don’t feast on fast break points such as L.A. and the Oklahoma City Thunder. But with this stretch, the Bucks now stand at the top of the league in allowing the fewest opponent fast break points per game (9.1).
As small of a component as this has been in their streak, it has helped recalibrate their defensive efficiency as they have a 105.5 defensive rating over their last five games.
Considering that limiting as few fast break points as they can has been a staple for the Bucks under Budenholzer, the Bucks have held strong on this front while shaking up half of their roster from the offseason. Tightening up their defense and surrendering as few easy scoring chances as they have so far this season will be key in further bolstering their defensive play moving forward in the season.
Whether the Bucks will continue their win streak going into the All-Star break remains to be seen, but they have certainly hit their stride, all while battling through adversity and new experiences as well.
