Milwaukee Bucks: 3 matchups to watch for against Philadelphia 76ers
Third matchup to watch for Milwaukee Bucks against 76ers — Not letting Seth Curry get hot
There are few complementary role players that get Bucks fans panicked any time he touches the ball quite like Seth Curry. Given his quick trigger and ability to hit shots while on the move, Curry bends opposing defenses in ways that a rare class of shooters can do on a nightly basis.
The Bucks know first-hand of the damage that Curry can do as he put in a blistering shooting performance while with the Dallas Mavericks last year in a 120-116 loss in December of 2019 that ended Milwaukee’s 18-game win streak.
Now Curry has brought his lights out shooting to Philly after getting dealt in the offseason and it has lifted the 76ers considerably, especially given their spacing struggles last season. Averaging 12.8 points per game on 43.6 percent shooting from three, Curry has the highest offensive rating (118.2) on the team and his +11.0 net rating ranks second among rotation regulars, trailing only Joel Embiid.
For all of those reasons, the Bucks will have to have a dedicated defender that looks to run Curry off the 3-point line as he relentlessly looks to find cracks in the Bucks’ defense. Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer will have plenty of options, whether it’s Donte DiVincenzo, Pat Connaughton and Khris Middleton, who all offer the size, length and athleticism to throw Curry off his rhythm.
Such a mission, though, will be easier said than done and we’ll see how the Bucks will look to extinguish Curry’s hot shooting.
The Bucks’ highly anticipated meeting with the Philadelphia 76ers will tip off at 6 p.m. CST and you can find the action on ESPN where it will be nationally televised and Fox Sports Wisconsin for those living locally.
