Milwaukee Bucks: 3 takeaways from 112-97 win over Los Angeles Lakers
Jrue Holiday puts in a master class performance in the Milwaukee Bucks’ win
Just as was the case last time out, Jrue Holiday was instrumental in the Bucks’ win over the Lakers.
Getting into a groove from the opening possession, Holiday proved to be a massive lifeline for the Bucks throughout their slow-going opening period by hitting shots from all three levels of the floor. Holiday, in particular, had his patented stepback jumper rolling all night long and made good use of it when getting separation from Lakers guard Dennis Schröder throughout the win.
On the defensive side of the ball, Holiday was incredibly disruptive when guarding Schroder and getting his hands into passing lanes to dislodge the ball from numerous Lakers players. Applying the level of ball pressure we saw from Holiday proved to be infectious for the whole Bucks squad as they clamped down on the Lakers’ following their 30-point first quarter.
All in all, Holiday matched his season-high of 28 points on 11-for-16 shooting (3-for-5 from three, 3-for-4 from the free throw line), eight rebounds, six assists, four steals as well as four turnovers and a block in over 34 minutes of run.
Holiday has shown his importance to this Bucks team all season long, but his outing last night may prove to be his most complete of the year thus far. And Holiday’s efforts helped buoy the Bucks as they ended their losing streak.
The Bucks will look to pick up their second straight win when they make their visit to the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night, which will tip off at 9 PM CST.
