Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks are winning

The Bucks have been the best regular season team in the association over the past two years, which certainly helped Antetokounmpo earn his previous two MVP awards.

However, the Bucks started the season off without an identity, struggling mightily to find any consistency with their new roster. They looked vulnerable as the losses started adding up, and along with voter fatigue factoring in, the 26-year-old was an afterthought in the way too early MVP conversation.

Despite the slow start, Giannis and the Bucks have been able to rebound and get back into a dominant rhythm. Currently sitting at second place in the Eastern Conference with a 31-17 overall record, this team has largely been able to overcome their turbulent start to the year. Just 2.5 games back of the top spot, Milwaukee has a legitimate chance to reclaim the top seed by season’s end, especially if they continue playing as they have lately.

The Bucks have won 15 of their last 19 games by playing arguably their best basketball of the season. Winning matters significantly in the MVP race these days, and the Bucks will climb in the standings as they continue racking up more victories. If they can overthrow Philadelphia as the top seed in the Eastern Conference standings, Antetokounmpo’s case will be that much more impressive.
