Milwaukee Bucks should consider signing veteran free agent wing Gerald Green

Gerald Green had a short-lived preseason stint with the Bucks to start the 2017-18 season, but he was waived after just four appearances.

The journeyman went on to have a pair of solid seasons with the Houston Rockets by averaging 10.3 points on a .403/.360/.844 slash line, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game. Green missed the entirety of last season with a broken foot and was waived before this season due to Houston’s cap constraints. However, with the guard healthy once again and looking for another opportunity, he could be an enticing option for the Bucks to consider bringing back.

The biggest thing that Green would bring to the table for the Bucks would be his shooting from distance. His role with Houston primarily revolved around his ability to knock down those outside shots consistently, and he proved capable by shooting 36 percent on 6.5 attempts in that span. Milwaukee’s bench has the second-highest 3-point percentage in the association at 40.8, and filling their final roster opening with another high-end shooter could help bump that mark up a few ticks.

Missing the entirety of last season and a large portion of this year, what shape Green is currently in remains unknown. However, the upside is there, and this would be a low-risk gamble for the Bucks to take in an attempt to bulk up their wing depth. If the 35-year-old is still looking for another shot in the league, perhaps reuniting with former teammate P.J. Tucker in another championship environment could be captivating.
